How to Get to Know Your Partner on a Deeper Level

Many of us have already started setting goals for 2023, loads of which will be related to our health, fitness, finances, weight, career, and productivity. However, something that too many people neglect is setting goals for their personal relationships.

Our relationships are one of the most important aspects of our lives, so it’s naturally important that we put an active effort into working on them. This year, why not set a goal to get to know your partner better? This can have far-reaching benefits for your relationship and both of your mental health.

If that sounds like something worthwhile to you, here are a few tips to get started.

Get to Know Their Personality Type

For starters, it’s always helpful to have a better understanding of how your partner’s mind works. This will help you to be more understanding of certain behaviours and further allow you to show them care and support in the most beneficial way for them. You can do this by taking personality tests together and spending some time learning about one another’s types.

For example, ENFP love will be expressed differently from INFJ love – just because your partner shows care in a different way doesn’t mean that the love isn’t there. Understanding personality types can help you to identify the little ways in which your partner shows you they care.

Schedule Screen-Free Time

In the modern age, everything we do is overtaken by technology and media. Date nights and deep conversations are interrupted by smartphones, social media and televisions blaring in the background, and often, quality time is taken over by simply binge-watching movies together. Make an effort to spend screen-free time together as often as possible.

If your smartphone and social media are having a seriously negative impact on your relationship, you could even delete your Instagram account and commit yourself to spending more time in the present moment with your partner.

Ask Questions

The easiest way to know more about something is to simply ask, and the same goes for getting to know your partner better. If you’ve been together for a while, you might feel like you’re beyond the point of asking questions to get to know them, but this is far from the truth. Start asking more and see what you learn.

If you don’t have any specific questions in your mind, you could even create a game out of it and look online to find questions to ask your partner and take turns answering them. You might be surprised to find there’s lots you didn’t know about each other!

Make Plans to Travel Together

Finally, a great tip is to travel to new places with your partner. Travelling together can help reignite that spark between you and there are loads of other benefits too.

You could take one another to meaningful spots from your childhood or explore places that are new to the both of you. You’ll get to know more about one another’s pasts, make new memories together and experience a different side of each other too.
